Description

This session will help carers understand the causes of diabetes and respond to hypoglycaemic episodes. it will define hypoglycaemia and outline basic principals of it's management. We will also discuss the reasons why hypoglycaemia occurs and identify strategies to help prevent it from occuring.

At the completion of this session carers will be able to:
•understand the factors the influence diet of a diavetic client
•Identify your role in:
•Meal preparations and presentation
•Ensuring client's rights and safty
•Client's maintenance of diet and medication
•Client's maintenance of personal care IE foot care
•Identify signs of anything that may indicate something is wrong with the cliet IE Hypoglycaaemic/Hyperglycoemic Comas
•Assist the client to maintain their own diet and medication
